Other Medications to Manpower

What works best for you and your partner in treating your ED will be determined by the underlying cause as well as your personal preferences. You can get advice from your doctor on this. Treatments include, but are not limited to:

Medications: Prior to having sex, you take drugs such as sildenafil (Viagra) and vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn) as pills. Your penis receives more blood flow as a result of these pills. When you're sexually aroused, this helps you get an erection.

If your levels of testosterone are too low, your doctor may prescribe testosterone. If your ED is caused by circulatory or nerve disorders, medication will not help.

In order to help your penis fill with blood and quickly cause an erection, you can inject an ED medicine called alprostadil into your penis. It's sometimes combined with other medications. You can also use alprostadil as a suppository by inserting it into your urethra (the little hole in your penis through which pee flows). The drug is in a solid form, but your body heat dissolves it.

Changes in lifestyle: Your doctor may recommend that you reduce weight or begin an exercise regimen in order to alleviate your symptoms of erectile dysfunction. Stopping smoking, drinking alcohol, or using marijuana may also be recommended.

Counseling: Counseling may be beneficial if you suffer from ED as a result of stress, depression, or a relationship issue.

Penile pump, is worn around the penis. An air pump is included for sucking air out of the tube. This helps to erect your penis by drawing blood into it. The vacuum tube is removed, and an elastic band is placed around the base of your penis to maintain it upright. Remove the ring after sex to stop the erection.

Surgery: Most guys do not have surgery for ED. If your arteries are clogged, your doctor may recommend an operation to repair them. Another option is to have your penis surgically implanted with an inflated or bendable rod.
